Marangi Disposal / Advance Waste are a bully employer that have hatched a plan to exploit their workforce, by forcing them to change to an employer-dominated union and pay as much as $500 per month for Health Insurance.

Private Sanitation workers work in a highly dangerous environment. It is consider the seventh most dangerous occupation in America. Workers in this industry need protections against bad employers and hazardous work.

Laborers Local 108 has filed charges with the United States Government, charging that Marangi Disposal and its affiliates have violated its employee’s rights as protected by law.

Some of the intimidation tactics that Marangi Disposalhas used during the past 7 months are

Firing employees for filing Grievances
Spying on employees
Threatening employees with termination and pay cuts
Bad Faith Bargaining

Marangi Disposal

Marangi Disposal is a private waste collection company with operations in Bergen County NJ, Rockland County NY and Orange County NY. Laborers Local Union 108 is the representative of the employees at the employer.

The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expired at Midnight on September 1, 2011. During the past 5 months the employer has supported an independent union local 124 of the IUJAT and local 108 has alleged the employer bargained in bad faith and has violated the NLRA.

Today we start our fight for a new contract.

We ask all visitors to this site to go to Action Center Link on this page and help Local 108 its members and the middle class of NYS get a fair deal.

Marangi Disposal was a 30 employees company at the onset of the expired CBA in 2009, today the employer employees 80 hourly employees under contract with local 108.

It has proposed that the employees give back protections that keep them employed and take wage cuts in order to create greater profits for the Marangi’s.

We are not opposed to any employer making a profit. The Marangi’s made a profit in excess of $7 million dollars in 2010. (Estimated by Local 108).

Labor day 2011

This Labor Day weekend Laborers Local 108 finds itself in a fight for a contract and a raid by an independent union, local 124 at Marangi Disposal.

Marangi Disposal after realizing that Local 108 would not prostitute itself for dues money, decided that forcing an election would be easier than just dealing with the Union. That has been in place for over 6 years.

I have said it many times before that if they are going to put us out of business, then they had better remember our name forever.

Marangi Disposal @ 800-595-7660 Let them know that you are a member of Laborers Local Union 108 or that you just support the working class and this fight is not just about one company, but it is about the working class membership of Laborers Local Union 108, and when you pick a fight with one of us, you have to fight all of us.

Local 124 is a cancer that employers in our industry will use to get their way and as I look back over history, it’s no different than big business using armed guards to kill workers that went on strike in the 1930’s

Marangi Disposal has threaten to fire workers if they go on strike, they have forced workers to work in a hostile environment and the Leadership of Local Union 108 has been barred from going onto the employers premises to see it members.

Labor Day, some say America does not need unions anymore. I tell you now today, that history is repeating itself in America. Marangi Disposal is a perfect example why we need union more today than ever before.
